With today’s economy and the pressures of job loss or cutbacks we are finding that more and more people are relying on a one person income to make ends meet. Employees may be worried about becoming jobless unable to find work, loosing their homes, cars, health insurance and savings accounts or even worse. These stresses are a major distraction for each person as they try to focus on job tasks. This is not only a safety factor for those who are working, but for their families and co-workers as well. On the job stress is hard enough, however, when individuals have compounded stresses in today’s economy, an unsafe condition is created in the workplace for everyone. Many parents don't realize how vulnerable their children are to identity theft. Typically, a child is issued a Social Security number soon after they are born. Parents need that number for tax returns, but beyond that it isn't put to use until the child first applies for credit or a job when they are 18 or older. As a result, if someone uses the child's social security number - whether in combination with their real name or a fake name - fraud could go undetected until the child becomes of age to start establishing their own credit. Then it is too late. Think about how many people you may have in your home, people who may have access to your computer at home or work, who could feasibly get this information.
