Respiratory Protection

The purpose of this course is to help you comply with the OSHA respirator standard 29 CFR 1910.134 and 29 CFR 1926.103.  This course is designed to inform the participant about the respiratory hazards that exist in the workplace, select the proper respiratory protection, and train employees in their use.  By being aware of the hazards, employers can keep their employees safe and avoid costly injuries and illnesses.

Supervisors need to know how to ensure each employee under his or her supervision using a respirator has received appropriate training in its use, the availability of appropriate respirators and accessories, and encourage proper respirator equipment maintenance. Supervisors must be aware of tasks requiring the use of respiratory protection and ensure all employees engaged in such work use the appropriate respirators at all times.
