Introduction to Industrial Hygiene

The newly revised Introduction to Industrial Hygiene course was designed for safety, health, environmental and management personnel who have industrial hygiene on-the-job responsibilities, but who lack the training or experience in industrial hygiene.

There are 14 course modules, which cover the most essential elements of industrial hygiene.  The modules are:

  • Introduction to Industrial Hygiene

  • Anatomy and Physiology

  • Recognition of Chemical Hazards

  • Recognition of Physical Hazards

  • Recognition of Ergonomic Hazards

  • Overview of Hazard Evaluation

  • Evaluation of Chemical and Biological Hazards

  • Evaluation of Physical Hazard

  • Evaluation of Ergonomic Hazard

  • Control of Hazards

  • An Industrial Hygiene Case Study

  • Industrial Hygiene Program Planning

During the course, a variety of strategies will be used to improve the transfer of training from the class to the job.  Each participant will have the opportunity to practice new learning during the class, examine ways to apply new skills on the job, become familiar with excellent resources and discuss barriers to implementation and how to overcome them.
